Program

The SFB 716 explores the representation of systems with large particle numbers. The aim is it to increase the number of observed particles and the duration of the simulations. While current research is usually done separately by application fields, the concepts and tools of the SFB 716 are coupled and developed synergically. The projects concentrate on flow and thermodynamic processes, the behavior of different materials and questions about biochemistry and biophysics. The scientists calculate the path of each individual particle and the interaction to its neighbors and outside forces.

Such complexe particle simulations require the usage of high-performance computers and programmable graphics cards. Further we need new visualization methods for an interactive analyse to make the large amount of data interpretable.
